September: Write your will month

Have your Will professionally written for a small charity donation.

Throughout September, Southampton Hospital Charity is inviting supporters to have their Will professionally written or updated in exchange for a small donation to the charity.

Making a Will is one of the most important decision most of us will make. It ensures that everything we’ve worked hard for in our lives is given to the people we care about the most.

Figures reveal that over half (60%) of adults in the UK don’t have a Will which means that if they were to pass away, their estates would be distributed according to the strict rules of intestacy, and may not reflect their wishes.

Legacy donations play a vital role in enabling us to continue providing the best possible care to patients, and can make a real impact to future generations.

Every gift, no matter how large or small, will make a difference.

And it’s easy. Whether you are making a new Will or amending a current one, all you need to do is take our charity number (1051543) and address to your solicitor, and they will do the rest.

Please always remember when writing your Will to look after your friends and family first, then leave us what’s left.

Participating solicitors:

  • Andrew Begg & Co, Clos Des Ruelles, La Rue Militaire, St Ouen, Jersey, JE3 2HF - 01534 734234.

The donation will buy you the time to sit and discuss your requirements with a professional solicitor who will provide you with honest recommendations suited to your needs.

Suggested donations start at just £95 for a codicil, which amends an already existing Will, £145 for a basic single Will or £195 for a pair of basic mirror Wills. Please note that more detailed wills may incur an additional charge and should be discussed with your solicitor before your Will is completed.

Previous projects

In 2018, we raised £3,685 for our general purpose fund to benefit wards or departments of our donors choice.

In 2017 donations went to our general purpose fund for the benefit of the whole of our hospital. This raised £3,133.75.

In 2016 we asked for donations to our general purpose fund so that we could spend the money in any area of the hospital which was most in need. This was our most successful year to date, raising £6,000 - thank you.

In 2015, we asked for support for our PLANETS (pancreatic, liver and neuroendocrine tumours) fund to put towards research and vital bits of equipment for use with our patients. This raised £3,500 for PLANETS and our other wards/departments.

In 2014, our chosen project was our elderly care wards - you helped us raise £5,000 soley for these wards, so thank you! This has enabled us to put TVs and entertainment systems into the wards to make it more of a home-from-home experience for our elderly patients, who often spend long amounts of time in hospital.

Your gift will be a lasting legacy: your footprint in the future
