September: Write your will month
Following on from the success of last year's Write Your Will Month, which raised money for various ward and department charity projects, throughout September 2017 we will be encouraging supporters to have their wills professionally written or updated in exchange for a small donation to the charity.
"It takes a huge weight off your mind. It's like having one room in the house all beautiful and tidy in case you ever need it. The peace of mind that you have prepared it and shut the door and it's ready for anyone who needs it. You don't have to worry then." Sue Jameson, New Tricks actress and charity legacy ambassador reflecting on writing her will.
Instead of paying a solicitors fee, you will be invited to make a donation to help raise money for Southampton Hospital Charity, or you can direct your donation to whichever area of the hospital is closest to your heart.
After providing for your loved ones, we hope that you will include a gift to Southampton Hospital Charity in your will. Donating just 1% of the residue of your estate or as much as you can spare will make a huge difference.

- A list of participating solicitors will be made available closer to September 2017.

This is a fantastic opportunity for our supporters to help themselves while also helping a good cause. Having a will written by a professional offers great peace of mind and by doing it through 'Write Your Will Month', our supporters will be helping to pump vital funds back into their local hospital.
Suggested donations are £45 for a codicil, £95 for a basic single will or £145 for a pair of basic mirror wills. Please note that more detailed wills may incur an additional charge and should be discussed with your solicitor before your will is completed.

In 2014, our chosen project was our elderly care wards - you helped us raise £5,000 soley for these wards, so thank you! This has enabled us to put TVs and entertainment systems into the wards to make it more of a home-from-home experience for our elderly patients, who often spend long amounts of time in hospital.
In 2015, we asked for support for our PLANETS (pancreatic, liver and neuroendocrine tumours) fund to put towards research and vital bits of equipment for use with our patients. This raised £3,500 for PLANETS and our other wards/departments.
Your gift will be a lasting legacy: your footprint in the future
