Public urged to get baking to boost hospital charity funds
Are you mad about muffins or crazy about cupcakes? Perhaps you fancy yourself as the next Mary Berry?
Whatever your baking skills, fundraisers at Southampton Hospital Charity want you to help celebrate the charity’s fifth birthday this month by taking part in their ‘great birthday cake sale’ on Monday, 11 March.
Staff from both Southampton General and Princess Anne hospitals will be helping to commemorate the charity’s birthday by organising cake sales in and around the hospitals and now Southampton Hospital Charity is calling on the public to get involved too.
Fundraising manager Suzie Simmons said: “We are planning a number of different events to help commemorate our fifth birthday throughout the year and we will be kicking off the celebrations with the great birthday cake sale on Monday, 11 March.
“We hope to encourage as many of our supporters as possible to join in and host their own cake sales, perhaps at school, work or even just out and about in their local community, and we have a number of great tips on our website to help get them started.”
All the money raised will be used to help enhance the services at the Southampton General and Princess Anne hospitals and supporters are able to request which department or ward they would like to donate their funds to.
Suzie continued: “This is a really fun and simple way for our supporters to help do something good for the Charity and there will even be an opportunity for them to win prizes as we will be holding a competition on our Facebook page for the best looking creation.”
