Taking on the Southampton half marathon
I will be taking on my next running challenge by running my first half Marathon - how scary but exciting is that!
All money raised will be going to the Paediatric Medical Unit (PMU) to support the children and the staff who look after them. I have now been working as a qualified nurse on the unit for two years, so have been a part of many journeys of children who have come in needing medical help. This has made me want to support this ward even more.
Each and every one of these children are truly amazing and absolutely superstars who just keep on going. The children deserve every penny!
The money raised will aid in help transforming the ward décor, in purchasing more vital equipment that can be very expensive, plus the toys and games that we can use as distraction tactics. Anything to try and make the hospital experience better for the children we look after.
The PMU look after children with childhood common illnesses to children with life-limiting and life-long conditions. We treat a whole wealth of childhood illnesses and diseases. We look after children with general illnesses, respiratory, gastro, mental health, neurological rehabilitation, endocrine, diabetic conditions, and many more.
We also care for children who have spent time in the paediatric intensive and high dependency units, plus the children who are supported on ventilators and children with tracheostomies and nasopharyngeal airways.
I know how much this money will be appreciated by the lovely team and the fantastic children I work with.”
